Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is chasing Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira.

The Independent says Benitez will attempt to breathe life into Liverpool's crumbling season by making a move for Vieira.

The former Arsenal midfielder, who is out of favour at Inter Milan, is believed to be keen on a move back to the Premier League in a bid to bolster his chances of claiming a place in France's World Cup squad.

Benitez, meanwhile wants strength and experience in his midfield with Javier Mascherano and Lucas both struggling for form and summer signing Alberto Aquilani yet to make a start for the Reds.
