Liverpool are furious with Arsenal's cheeky bid for wantaway striker Luis Suarez. The Sun says the Gunners last night made a cocky new bid to land Suarez - by offering £1 more than the £40million trigger figure in his contract.
And Liverpool immediately reacted by angrily knocking back their attempt to get the unsettled South American.
After snubbing a £35m raid a fortnight ago, Arsenal were told upping the ante by another £5m would not be enough.
They chose to test that when chief executive Ivan Gazidis made a phone call to Liverpool's Melbourne hotel last night.
But Liverpool's swift response left no doubt their stance will not soften.
Liverpool have always insisted the clause in his contract meant they were merely duty bound to inform the player but under no pressure to sell as he still has three years left on his deal.
