Liverpool fullback Johnson: Sturridge now drawing two defenders

Liverpool fullback Glen Johnson has hailed the impact of January signing Danny Sturridge.

Johnson echoed the view that Sturridge can combine with Luis Suarez to great success.

"Danny Sturridge has settled in well and I think he'll do some fantastic things here at the club," enthused the 28-year-old to liverpoolfc.com. "He will be a fantastic signing. He will petrify defenders because he's so sharp, quick and unpredictable at times.

"He will always occupy at least two defenders, which gives the rest of us opportunities to make runs around him. He will be a great asset for us. I know how Danny felt at City and Chelsea.

"Every player wants to play in every game. I'm sure Danny left Chelsea to get games and show what he can do because he's a fantastic player.

"It's a great challenge to go up against Danny and Luis in training. I can really see the partnership being very good for us.

"We've already seen that, but it's still early days and it's going to improve over time as well. It's looking bright between them."
