Liverpool fullback Glen Johnson favours moving abroad in 2015.
The Mirror says Liverpool, who have just tied Daniel Sturridge to a five-year contract worth up to £150,000-a-week and are now ready to make Raheem Sterling a similar offer, are looking to make savings elsewhere on their wage bill.
With Johnson now beyond 30, they are unwilling to offer him more than a 12-month extension at a reduced rate.
And although there will be no shortage of Premier League interest, the England defender has seen how Ashley Cole has thrived since moving to Roma and is ready to listen to any offers from abroad on January 1.
