Fabio Aurelio accepts Liverpool's current position is not good enough.
They go into a virtual must-win game against Wigan Athletic on the back of Sunday's defeat to Arsenal.
The Brazilian fullback Aurelio told liverpoolfc.tv: "The current situation is not a good one for us, but we know it's only ourselves who can turn things around.
"The only way to do that is to try to be better in the next game. We need to build our confidence up and for that to happen we need to get results."
Meanwhile, the clash with Arsene Wenger's side saw Aurelio make his 100th appearance for Liverpool.
"I'm very proud," he said. "If I count all the games I've had to miss due to injury problems, I think it's been more or less around 25 a season.
"I hope I can regain the level I was at last season and have no more problems."
