Liverpool fullback Fabio Aurelio says facing Arsenal is the ideal chance for the club to make a new season statement.
The Brazilian accepts that curtain-raisers don't come much tougher than facing the Gunners but he remains confident the Reds can go on and get a positive result in Roy Hodgson's first league match in charge.
"It's a great game to begin with," Aurelio told Liverpoolfc.tv. "We have had some very interesting games against Arsenal in the past and everyone is really looking forward to it.
"We have a new manager and a new way of working so we will see how things go.
"It's a new season for Liverpool. We didn't finish last year so well, so we are all excited about getting the club off to a good start.
"We are quite confident we can do that. It's a very important match because it is against a top side and it would be good to win against such a big rival. If we do, it will be great but we know it is just three points for a win and won't get carried away."
