Liverpool fought off a late bid from Tottenham to land Manchester Coty attacker Craig Bellamy yesterday.
The Daily Mail says Bellamy swept back into Liverpool as the forgotten men of the Barclays Premier League dominated transfer deadline day.
As clubs scrambled to complete deals and managers left training grounds in darkness, Bellamy made a frantic dash from Cardiff to Liverpool to have a medical with his former employers.
That did not stop Tottenham making a late bid to wrestle the Welshman from Liverpool's clutches with the offer of a two-year deal, but Bellamy was given the Merseysiders' No 39 shirt.
