Liverpool forward Solanke defends Chelsea loan system: It made me a man

Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke, who earned himself a call-up to the England national team for their friendly on Tuesday against Brazil has defended the Chelsea loan system.

Solanke left Chelsea last summer to join Liverpool after spending last season on loan with Dutch club Vitesse and went on to score several times from 26 games.

"It helps you as a young player, going out and seeing a different [type of] football and culture," he told reporters.

"I think that can only help playing men's football when you are young. I think that helped me."

Solanke was part of the England U-20 side that won the World Cup that was held in South Korea earlier on during the year.

He went on to score four goals during the tournament and was awarded the golden boot award for best player.

The 20-year-old is regarded as a bright prospect for the future and has so far made 10 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season, failing to find the back of the net.
