Liverpool forced to deny claims Lovren offered The Sun exclusive burglary story

Liverpool are furious with claims Dejan Lovren gave an interview to The Sun about a family burglary while they were in Croatia.

Lovren was quoted in The Sun on Sunday in an exclusive discussing the ordeal where he believes they were the victim of being "gassed" before the crime took place.

The Liverpool Echo reports Liverpool have since denied that Lovren had spoken directly to The S*n, with Tony Barrett, who is Head of Club and Supporter Liaison at Anfield, shedding light on the incident.

He tweeted: "Dejan Lovren hasn't given any interviews to any English newspapers about an incident that happened in Croatia.

"The original story about Lovren appeared in the Croatian media in June."

The original story was published by Croatian website Index back on June 16, and while the Liverpool defender didn't speak to the The Sun about the break-in, it is understood Lovren and his family were the victims of burglars in Zagreb over the summer.
