Liverpool finance chief Hughes tightlipped on Suarez sale

Liverpool finance chief Andy Hughes is tightlipped over reports of a fee agreed with Barcelona over the sale of Luis Suarez.

The Mirror says the Reds are in talks with the La Liga giants over the sale of the Uruguay international, who was recently hit with a four month ban after attempting to bite Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup.

However, Liverpool's chief financial officer Hughes, who held a meeting at a central London office on Friday, refused to confirm a deal is imminent.

When asked about the transfer he said: "I can't talk about that. I'm here for a finance meeting."

Negotiations between the two clubs have been productive, but Liverpool want Barcelona to raise their initial offer of £60million.
