Liverpool are swooping for Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone.

The Sun says the Reds are planning to grab Kone from under the nose of new Everton boss Roberto Martinez.

With Luis Suarez almost certain to leave Anfield - and doubts about whether injured Daniel Sturridge will be fit for the start of the new season - Liverpool are determined to increase their firepower.

As well as considering whether to trigger Kone's £6.5million release clause, they are also eager to complete the signing of Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas for around £8m.
