Liverpool fans respond furiously to Barcelona's improved €120M Coutinho cash bid

The Daily Mail has reported that Barcelona have stepped up their offer for Philippe Coutinho now that Neymar has departed for Paris Saint Germain.

An initial offer of €100m for the Liverpool playmaker has now been raised to €120m.

The possibility of the Reds losing arguably their best player has become a reasonable possibility, but the Kop faithful aren't sold on the Catalan giants new bid.

Via the I Love Liverpool Facebook site, Reds supporters expressed their frustration, anger and discontent at the news.. -

Some argued that the bid was not significant enough to warrant a sale, like Paul McMullan who said, 'When are they going to learn Liverpool's price is £133 million, and notice it's in Sterling not monopoly money used in Europe..' or Matthew Thompson who argued, 'Keep him. He worth 150million in today's market'.

Basiim Abu Hanifah reckons the Brazilian is worth 1bn whilst also claiming that Jurgen Klopp's outfit could rival Barcelona… he said: 'He is worth 10 x that no way should we allow this, we are better then Barcelona anyway as proven by friendly last year and they had Suarez and Messi in that team with Iniesta and co we still thrashed them too without mane, Salah, Firmino'

Some people, like Aaron Banks, are of the opinion that the Reds shouldn't sell no matter the cost. He said: 'It's not like that money is going in my pocket...so I don't care how much they offer. Would rather keep the player I know who can and will do the business for us!'

And Jason Dufton concurred, 'Don't let him go nowhere we need to keep our best players and keep adding to them. Long season in front of them and if any injuries we need just as good to come from the bench.'

However, Mark McCrossan Mind was fine selling Coutinho, but only if the club found a replacement first. He said: 'Mind is not changed but if we are to sell, then we need to buy the replacement before we let him go!'

But Jonathan Owens says their isn't somebody out there, he explained: 'There isn't a replacement for Coutinho and with all our rivals buying you need to accept top 4 may not happen so write off £40m for being in CL. €120m seems a bit cheap from this point of view.

Philipp Lloyd agrees with Jonathan, but he also provides an alternative: 'I would keep him for one season and when Barcelona really struggle this season they will be more desperate to sign him and the price should go up.'

'Too late in the window for Pool to look for someone else. I don't think you will find a decent replacement but in saying that, look how much Pool paid for him in the first place... so there are players out there that Pool can make into legends and not pay the earth for. Just takes some astute scouting'.
