A Liverpool supporter has been banned from attending the clubs matches for four years after being found guilty of making a racist gesture.
58-year old carpenter and joiner Phillip Gannon is not allowed to attend any Liverpool or England matches and has also been banned from the Liverpool city centre four hours before and after a match because of actions he made at Anfield on January 28.
The date marked the first match between Liverpool and Manchester United after Reds striker Luis Suarez had been suspended for eight matches for racially abusing Red Devils defender Patrice Evra.
Liverpool Magistrates' Court heard that Gannon was caught on live TV impersonating a monkey by putting his hands to his armpits with complaints being made to police shortly after the images were beamed worldwide.
Prosecutor Rob Girvan decided to hit Gannon with a ban and also fine him a total of £180 whilst ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £300.
