Liverpool failed in bid for Rangers' Jelavic

Rangers star Nikica Jelavic was the subject of a £9million bid from Liverpool yesterday according to reports. A late bid from an unnamed club came in for the Croatian striker just hours and it has been revealed that it was indeed the Reds.

On Tuesday, ambitious Championship club Leicester City had a £6.5million offer turned down and then 'Gers stuck to their guns by not bowing to the advances of a bigger club such as Liverpool.

Kenny Dalglish did happen to sign Craig Bellamy from Manchester City but was still keen on bringing Jelavic to Anfield but Ally McCoist was having none if it and managed to hold onto the former Rapid Vienna man.
