Liverpool must fight off French competition for Rennes winger Sylvain Marveaux.
It emerged yesterday that Liverpool had secured Marveaux to a pre-contract agreement, though nothing has so far been confirmed by either camp.
Olympique Marseille and Lyon are not giving up on keeping the Bosman prospect in France.
Lyon see Marveaux as a replacement for want-away Michel Bastos and have already offered him a five-year deal worth €75,000-a-week.
Marveaux is keeping the door open to Lyon, but has rejected a new approach from Newcastle United.
The midfielder is expected to make his final decision in May.
