Liverpool are eyeing a shock move for Celtic striker Georgios Samaras.

The Sun says the Greece star, 27, is keen on a £5million switch.

Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate for a forward when the January transfer window opens and is also keen on Chelsea hitman Daniel Sturridge.

But the Reds board have made enquiries about Samaras despite his unsuccessful spell at Manchester City between 2006-2008.
