Liverpool duo Xabi Alonso and Alberto Riera did the damage for Spain as they came back from a goal down to nab the points against Turkey.

A 62nd minute Alonso penalty got the European Champions back on level terms with Turkey after Semih Senturk struck first after 26 minutes.

The game was teetering on the edge for both sides for much of the last half-hour until Riera came to the rescue for Spain with a stoppage-time winner.

The win maintains the Spaniards record of six wins from six outings in World Cup qualifying.
