Liverpool are closing in on FC Groningen striker David Texeira, with Dutch sources saying negotiations are already underway.

Liverpool have been watching Texeira this season and now aim to land the 20 year-old Uruguayan before the market shuts next week.

Reds legend Bruce Grobbelaar has already hinted at Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish's interest in Texeira in recent days.

And soccernews.nl says talks are now progressing between the two clubs over a fee for the striker.
