Liverpool defender Wilson impressing management

Liverpool No2 Steve Clarke is delighted with the form of young defender Danny Wilson.

The young Scot has started each of Liverpool's last three matches, and while Clarke acknowledges the 19-year-old has areas of his game in which he can improve, he's been pleased with the defender's performances.

He told liverpoolfc.tv: "He's done well, for a young boy coming into the team. He's impressed us in training since we came here.

"He's looked good and deserved his chance in the team because he's been working so well in training.

"We've asked him to play left-back, which is a little bit out of position for him, but he's acquitted himself well. He's got good qualities - he's a good athlete, he's quick, really good on the ball and passes it well.

"He's obviously got some things he needs to work on, but I think most young players have always got something they can improve on - in fact most players have got something they can improve on.

"As long as he keeps applying himself and working hard in training, I'm sure you'll see a big improvement."
