Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates' season could already be over.

The Daily Mail says Coates has suffered a knee injury that could end his season.

The Uruguay defender was sent for scans on Tuesday after sustaining suspected cruciate ligament damage.

Coates' future at Anfield was already in the balance, with manager Brendan Rodgers open to offers for a player who joined Liverpool for £7m two years ago.
