Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates says the players are hurting over the manner of defeat at Newcastle United.

He insisted the team are already planning towards trying to secure a return to winning ways against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Coates told liverpoolfc.tv: "It was really hard. We all went there wanting to win, but it was a complicated game and a difficult defeat.

"I think it is really important as a team we keep believing in ourselves so we can move forward and try and get every point possible.

"The message in training this week will be the same as any other week - we've got to remain confident in ourselves and keep going forward.

"It's going to be a very difficult game against Aston Villa, but it's very important for us to win - and that's what we're going to try and do."
