Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is delighted for Joe Gomez as he edges closer to full fitness.

Gomez, 19, continued his return from a lengthy injury lay-off by playing the full ninety minutes for Liverpool under-23s as they ran out 5-1 winners over Reading last night.

Alexander-Arnold reckons Gomez is now ready to put his injury nightmare behind him.

"It's been quite a tough year for him [Gomez] but he's back now and he's looking strong and fit," the 18-year-old told Liverpoolfc.com, when quizzed over his teammate.

"He's getting better every game and you can see that with his performances and he capped it off with a goal [tonight]."
