Liverpool had to cough up big for Brendan Rodgers - on the manager's request - to get him from Swansea City.
The Daily Star says Swans gained a massive £4.8million from Rodgers' switch to Liverpool.
The final compensation figure - included at Rodgers' request - was put in place when he agreed a new contract with Swans chairman Huw Jenkins last January.
But the Northern Irishman, 39, had a previous buy-out clause of just £200k.
