Liverpool to continue patient stance with Gerrard

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has once again re-iterated his stance on captain Steven Gerrard.

The star midfielder has been used off the bench in the Reds' past two games against Newcastle United (3-1 win in which he scored) and Manchester City (3-0 loss last night) but Dalglish will not throw him into the starting line-up ahead of schedule.

"Stevie is improving his level of fitness all the time but we have to be very careful as to how he prepares," said Dalglish of Gerrard, who is returning from an ankle infection.

"It would be wrong of us to be negligent and throw him in and undo all the good work he has done so far.

"We would love to have him back fit and well but we just have to be a bit patient."
