Liverpool are stepping up their interest in PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

L'Equipe says Liverpool are ahead of Barcelona in their Bosman pursuit of the France international.

Rabiot's current deal has less than a year to run and he has so far shown little interest in discussing new terms with PSG.

Liverpool, like Barca, can secure Rabiot to a pre-contract agreement from January 1 ahead of signing him on a free transfer in June.

Liverpool chiefs are also weighing up making an offer to immediately sign Rabiot during the winter market - an option Barca are currently reluctant to explore.
