Liverpool have confirmed that Daniel Sturridge has suffered another leg injury.
The 25-year old striker suffered a fresh thigh injury at training on Monday and could be sidelined for the remainder of 2014.
Sturridge has already been out of club action since the end of August after injuring his thigh while on England duty at the start of September before attempting to make a comeback last month when he suffered a setback caused by a calf problem.
On Wednesday, the Reds released a statement confirming the new injury which is unrelated to the initial thigh problem he sustained more than two months ago.
"Liverpool Football Club today confirmed scans have revealed Daniel Sturridge has sustained a new thigh injury," read a brief statement from the club.
"The player will remain unavailable for selection but will be monitored and assessed during his recovery."
This season, Sturridge has been able to make just three Premier League appearances for the Anfield club.
