Liverpool confirm South Africa friendly at season's end

Liverpool will head to South Africa for a friendly just two days after the final Premier League match of the season.

The Reds, who play QPR on May 19 to wrap up the 2012/13 campaign, will meet Ajax Cape Town 48 hours later to kick off a busy offseason.

"This visit is part of our off-season activity and shows our commitment to bringing the club closer to our fans all over the globe, no matter how far away from Anfield they may live," said Liverpool chief commercial officer Billy Hogan.

"It will be fantastic for the club to return to South Africa after almost 20 years."

Liverpool will also be in Indonesia to meet an Indonesian XI, Australia for a friendly with A-League club Melbourne Victory and Bangkok to take on the Thailand national team in July.
