Liverpool confirm deal for Man City's Toure

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Kolo Toure from Manchester City.

The 32-year old former Arsenal centre-back will join the Reds on July 1 when his City contract expires.

"Liverpool Football Club can today announce they have agreed a deal in principle with Kolo Toure to join the club on July 1," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The powerful defender will be registered as a Reds player when his current deal with Manchester City expires."

Ivory Coast international Toure joined City from the Gunners in 2009 but struggled for regular game time recently with the likes of Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott and Matija Nastasic preferred in central defence. He will arrive at Anfield as a replacement for retiring veteran Jamie Carragher.
