Liverpool remain confident of signing Southampton defender Dejan Lovren, despite fresh competition from Tottenham.
The Daily Star says new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants the £15m-rated defender to follow him to White Hart Lane, having only joined Saints from Lyon last summer in a deal believed to be worth around £8.5m.
But Liverpool hold the trump card thanks to their Champions League qualification.
Strengthening the defence is a priority for Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool and the £15m-rated Lovren has long been a target for the former Swansea boss.
