The veteran centre-back has figured mainly in cup games so far this term and though he admits the league is a level up in quality, he's happy to help out when called upon.
Carragher told liverpoolfc.com: "The Premier League is a step up. The Carling Cup and Europa League games are high pace, but the intensity of the Premier League [is different]. Chelsea is also a difficult place to come.
"But whether I play or not, I'll always be ready for the lads and the manager if he wants to put me in for certain games. Like every player you want to play, but it's down to the manager - he's the boss.
"I understand this stage of my career now. There are always going to be new players coming in. We're a top club that lots of players want to play for. We've got lots of internationals here and I understand what stage of my career I'm at.
"I'd never cause a problem here, I'm just delighted to be involved. If the manager needs me, I'll be ready."
