Liverpool keeper coach Xavi Valero says Peter Gulacsi and David Martin are better players for their loans last season.
"They needed to go on loan last season because of the stage they are at," Valero told liverpoolfc.tv.
"Peter went to Hereford for three months and though they were relegated he got some really good experience - he was busy in all the games and had to deal with situations he wouldn't encounter in the reserves.
"He is much more mature now even though he is just 19. We are really pleased.
"David went to Leicester, a top League One team who were promoted to the Championship. He played about 35 games before an injury meant he missed the last two and a half months of the season. But he made a really big contribution to Leicester and, again, we're really pleased with him.
"It is another step in their progression towards the first team."
