Liverpool coach Gerrard explains Klopp approach to (dodgy) set-piece defending

Liverpool U18 coach Steven Gerrard has explained the theory behind their set-piece defending.

Before Tuesday's impressive Champions League result in Hoffenheim, Anfield legend, Steven Gerrard - currently tasked with coaching Liverpool's Under-18 youngsters - explained Liverpool's set piece defending philosophy.

He told BT Sport: “Liverpool do it in a slightly different way.

“Not everyone is in a zone. The line across the six yard box are meant to be in zones but the second line are meant to block so there's a responsibility on Emre Can and the others.

“If you look at the Watford game it's certainly not working and last season the issues were there as well so maybe they might have to try something different - but we'll have to wait and see."
