Liverpool coach Ablett: Scunthorpe good for Hobbs

Liverpool reserves coach Gary Ablett is confident Jack Hobbs will benefit from his loan at Scunthorpe United.

He told liverpoolfc.tv: "I think so yes. We'd reached a stage with Jack where he was itching to play at a higher and more competitive level than ours is. He'd been training with Rafa for two or three months and had been in and around that squad in that time too.

"But when we bought Martin (Skrtel) and with Daniel (Agger) coming back to fitness too, it pushed Jack further down that pecking order. So we felt it was in his best interest to go out and see what it was all about. We had an enquiry from Scunthorpe and thought the Championship was probably the level to pitch him in at. He's gone and done fine and we've had some good reports as well. So we'll keep watching him and see how he gets on between now and the rest of the season."
