Liverpool sports chief Damien Comolli is keen to bring Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann to Merseyside.
The French teenager has been a long-term target for Manchester United and Arsenal since breaking through at Real in last season's Segunda Liga.
Comolli also regards Griezmann highly and has joined the race for the 19 year-old midfielder.
Real are reluctant to discuss terms until the end of the season.
