Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre is safe.
The Telegraph says there have been suggestions that Liverpool's owners were considering returning Ayre to his former post of commercial director, where he successfully revamped the club's activities, and bring in a more high-powered chief executive.
Although the rumours, from informed sources, persist that Ayre will be replaced - he also came under scrutiny during the summer when the owners sacked manager Kenny Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli - Liverpool insist there are no plans for a change to be made.
