Liverpool know Hoffenheim attacker Roberto Firmino's contract carries a buyout clause.
Reds chief Ian Ayre is expected in Germany this week for transfer talks over several targets, including Brazilian Firmino. The attacking midfielder is viewed as an alternative to Southampton captain Adam Lallana.
Firmino only extended his Hoffenheim deal until 2017 in March, however, BILD says his agent Roger Wittmann has inserted a buyout clause in the new agreement.
Liverpool can sign Firmino for €20-25 million.
