Liverpool chairman Werner: Let's not get carried away

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner is delighted with nine points from the opening three games of the Premier League season.

But he is keen not to put too much pressure on the manager and his players.

He told liverpoolfc.com: "I don't want to get too excited, but we got off to a less than auspicious start last year, so I'm delighted.

"This has been a terrific year so far. I don't want to set too many targets, but everyone has to be delighted with the start we've made."

The chairman was also quizzed about the possibility of new players arriving at the club before the transfer window shuts on Monday.

"I think I'd rather wait until tomorrow," he responded. "I don't want to say too much, but we are focused on trying to improve the squad."
