Liverpool chairman Tom Werner insists the club is not for sale.

Investment firm China Everbright have been linked with a takeover of the Reds.

"I have said repeatedly this club is not for sale," Werner said at the presentation of Anfield's new main stand. "I don't know how many more times I can say it. We recognised this was a challenge, not just for us but our fans, and for us to compete at the highest level we needed to come up with a solution.

"We felt it was important to try to improve on the extraordinary facility that is here rather than start from scratch.

"There were challenges and we had a lot of plans that we had to tear up but you can see when you walk around that this only improves the atmosphere at Anfield, which is so special."
