Liverpool are contemplating a move for River Plate defender Gabriel Mercado, according to reports.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp was spotted watching Argentina's game against Chile at Copa America last week and the Daily Mirror claims that the German was in attendance to scout Mercado.
It is understood that Mercado's versatility has attracted interest from Klopp who could make a move for the six-time international.
The 29-year-old right-back, who is equally comfortable in the centre-back position, is a former teammate of Everton's Ramiro Funes Mori.
