Liverpool captain Henderson says referee partly to blame for Sevilla result

Jordan Henderson said the blame was partially on the referee for Liverpool's dramatic collapse against Sevilla on Tuesday night.

The Reds squandered a three-goal lead to eventually draw 3-3 with the La Liga club.

Sevilla's first two goals came from set-pieces; the first was a free-kick and the second was from a penalty, with both fouls given away by Alberto Moreno.

Although he admitted Liverpool were much to blame for the result, Henderson did save some guilt for the referee.

"I am not sure (how the collapse happened). The first half was very good, disciplined, score good goals," Henderson said.

"The second half was very bad, we did not start well at all. We gave a corner away and struggled from then on.

"The message at half-time was to keep going and they were going to give it a right go, they had nothing to lose and we could not cope with it. At least it is still in our hands to top the group."
