Liverpool captain Henderson: I owe so much to Dalglish

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says he's fit to face Southampton on Saturday.

The midfielder has been missing for a fortnight with a thigh injury.

Henderson - along with Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana, who also trained on Wednesday - is eyeing a return to the Liverpool starting XI for the visit of the Saints.

“It was my first proper session back today," he said. “I felt good and hopefully I can play a part at the weekend."

Henderson was speaking at the world premiere of Kenny, the biopic of Anfield legend Kenny Dalglish.

“I owe Kenny a lot of credit," he said. “He helped me in terms of leadership and could see the qualities I had inside me and bring them out.

“I've got a lot to owe Kenny. He has been a huge influence on my career so far.

“He is so humble and normal as a person. He will talk to everyone and anyone. You feel at ease whenever you speak to him, and when you think of how good he was and how big he is, that's a great credit to him.

“When I came in as a young lad, he was fantastic for me. He'd tell me to relax at times, he spoke to me all the time to make sure everything was okay, not only on the field but off the field as well.

“Even when he left as manager, he still stayed in touch and I still see him quite often."
