Liverpool captain Gerrard says Man Utd defender O'Shea should have seen red

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says Manchester United defender John O'Shea should have been sent off in Sunday's 3-2 defeat.

O'Shea escaped with a booking for bundling Liverpool hitman Fernando Torres to the floor on the edge of the box.

Kop skipper Gerrard tied it up at 2-2 from the resulting free-kick.

United boss Alex Ferguson claimed Torres made a meal of the challenge to try and get O'Shea dismissed.

But Gerrard thinks Webb SHOULD have brandished red.

He insisted: "You need the big decisions in the big games to go for you and I think the referee got it wrong.

"If he gives the foul, then he has to give the red card. But it's ifs and buts, isn't it? We just have to make sure we move on quickly."

Liverpool lost 3-2 but Gerrard said: "Although we're disappointed with the result, we're pleased with how we played."
