Liverpool captain Gerrard backing cousin Anthony for Wembley glory with Cardiff

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will be supporting Cardiff City in the promotion playoff against Blackpool.

Gerrard's cousin Anthony Gerrard is expected to be at the heart of Cardiff's defence.

Anthony started out as a youth player at Everton before making a real name for himself at Walsall. For the last year he has impressed under Dave Jones in Cardiff.

Steven told liverpoolfc.tv: "It would be great to have another Gerrard in the Premier League.

"He is a good player and I think he has got the potential to hold his own. I know that is what he is desperate for.

"He has been injured. He missed the last two games because of a calf problem but speaking to him on the phone there is a chance he could be ready for the final.

"We have a good relationship and I will be sending him good luck messages beforehand.

"I would love nothing better than for him to get to the Premier League."
