Frank McParland is set to be made new academy boss at Liverpool.

The People says Liverpool are ready to make talent-spotter McParland his new academy chief - with orders to find the next Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

The Anfield club are worried that few local lads have come through the ranks since the first team stalwarts arrived a decade ago.

Now McParland is about to be the first major appointment of manager Rafa Benitez's new regime at the club as he sorts out his backroom team after signing his new long-term contract.
