Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers hopes to make signings capable of an instant impact.
The key for Rodgers is buying finished products of the calibre of Philippe Coutinho and Danny Sturridge - those who will have an instant impact rather than face a prolonged period adjusting to the team.
"We've seen the benefits of that in January where we were able to move quickly and bring in players of the quality of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho," Rodgers told the official Liverpool FC magazine.
"The idea will be the same for the summer window and if we can do that then we're going to be in a great position for the beginning of the next season because there's no doubt that we need to grow and build the group. I have been to see some Champions League games recently - because that's where we want to be in the next few years - and you look at some of the squads that those clubs have and you realise that we have a bit of work to do."
