Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is under the impression that Luis Suarez will remain at the club, he confirmed today in Melbourne. The controversial yet brilliant Uruguayan striker has been heavily linked with both Arsenal and Real Madrid so far this off-season but the Reds boss is confident he will still be at Anfield next season.
"We only arrived here last night (Sunday) and he was here earlier, arriving from a different part of the world (Uruguay)," Rodgers said at a press conference in Melbourne ahead of Wednesday night's pre-season friendly with the Melbourne Victory.
"As we've always said as a club, and certainly as a manager and coach, I'm quite relaxed. Lui was out here as expected, he's an integral part of our squad.
"We'll chat at some stage, like I do with all the players. He's in great spirits, he'll join training today with all the players and over the next few weeks we will communicate with him.
"He's a Liverpool player first and foremost."
When quizzed further or if Suarez would stay, Rodgers said assuredly: "Yeah, very much so. He's a player that has been talked about, there has been a lot of speculation over the course of the off-season.
"The reality is, he is very much valued at Liverpool and unless there is any sort of offer that comes which is anywhere near his value, then there's nothing to consider."
