Liverpool boss Rodgers sees Gerrard future at centre-half

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers can see ways of helping Steven Gerrard extend his career.

Rodgers suggested that Gerrard could finish his career as a central defender.

When asked about parallels between his captain and Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs, Rodgers replied: "He is as fit as he has ever been. You adapt and change. I think he can play as a centre half later in his career. He passes the ball as well as anyone in the world.

"Ryan has been blessed genetically with a body that allows him to stay fit. At this moment in time, Steven is really fit."
