Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists Paul Lambert is the right man in charge of Aston Villa.

Rodgers urged the midlands club to keep faith with Lambert.

He said: "Paul is a top, top manager. You've only to see what he did with Norwich.

"As a team, you've got to try and work with what you've got and improve them and make them better.

"Paul Lambert is a top manager and the longer he is here, the better Aston Villa will become. There is no question about that.

"You see the fight and the energy, the players have in the group. Once he is able to bring his profile in, the players he wants to improve, then they will keep moving forward."
