Liverpool boss Rodgers plays down Sturridge’s position clause

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says no potential signing has demanded which position they want to play in for the club.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says no potential signing has demanded which position they want to play in for the club.

Recent reports suggest that Daniel Sturridge, who is expected to join the Reds from Chelsea in January, wanted a clause written into his contract which would ensure he plays as a centre-forward under Rodgers.

But the Anfield boss indicated that is simply not the case as the Merseysiders try to complete a deal for Sturridge’s services.

"No-one will come into this football club and demand where they play, that's for sure," he told reporters.

"It has been - as any sort of negotiations with any clubs with any players [are] - it isn't straight forward."
