Liverpool boss Rodgers: Man Utd's Evans should've been sent off

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says Manchester United defender Jonny Evans, along with Jonjo Shelvey, should've been sent off in yesterday's defeat.

Rodgers feels that referee Mark Halsey should have sent both the players off and not just the England Under-21 star.

"It was simple," bemoaned the Liverpool boss. "When I saw it at half-time I thought both players should have gone.

"If you're going to send off a player then you can't send off one without the other because the only difference is that Jonjo Shelvey jumped in from the side.

"I think as a footballer you have to go for the ball you cannot not go for the ball but Jonjo has gone and left the floor but so has Jonny Evans.

"You have got to send the two of them off."
